K-Pop has grown in popularity not only in the United States but all over the globe. This year, once again K-Pop star “Rain” is No. 1 on “The 2011 TIME 100 Poll” for most influential people in the world, an honor he has won two times already (2006 and 2007). Just last month, SM Entertainment hosted a sold-out K-Pop showcase at Madison Square Garden for an audience of diverse backgrounds.
Tapping into the ever growing popularity, HITSNY will launch the first-ever K-Pop training academy in New York City and everything will be caught on tape. The first-ever auditions will be on December 17, 2011 at Bennett Studios. Twenty students of all different backgrounds will be selected to have a chance to participate in a free six month academy where they will be trained in singing, dancing, stage performance, and the Korean language. At the end of the program (summer 2012) students will perform for a private showcase where representatives from both Korean and American entertainment companies will attend.
Note: SM Entertainment’s “The Trax”, a successful K-Pop band, will have a special performance on the day of the audition, December 17, 2011.
Where: Bennett Media Studio (723 Washington St.)When: December 17, 2011 10am – 6pm
