Queer Film Festival to Kick Off in Mumbai
Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, which aims to bring films about the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities to mainstream cinemas, will begin Wednesday evening with a line-up of 124 films from almost two dozen countries. The word “kashish” means “attraction or allurement” in Urdu, though not necessarily only of a sexual or romantic nature.

Films will be screened at multiplex theaters,” Sridhar Rangayan, festival director, told India Real Time. The films will also be screened at the city’s Alliance Française.
“This time we have put a lot of focus on the quality of story telling,” he said, adding that they have tried to make sure the movies represent a broad spectrum of the queer community. For instance, last year they did not have any film on bisexuals, but this year they do, he said.

This movie is shocking, seductive, errotic, captivating and paves the way for future films of its nature. These filmmakers are willing to take a risk and live on the edge.
A Question: Why is it always older women who “discover” they are lesbians after being married to a man for years that another woman is their “soulmate”? Are they implying that it takes years of intimacy with the same man (or lack thereof) to turn the other way? LOL Just wondering bc there are so many famous women like Meredith Baxter Birney who supposedly come to this “discovery” after many years and 2.3 kids with the same man.
