American Michelle Kwan, who won five world championship titles, was elected to the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame yesterday.

Kwan is the most decorated figure skater in US history with nine American titles. Her brilliant career included winning 43 championships and eight consecutive national crowns.

She won a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Games but despite her great success at the worlds failed in three attempts to win an Olympic gold medal.

Kwan will be inducted into the hall during the US figure skating championships at the end of January.
