Helping Children of Fallen Patriots

The mission of The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to provide college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. They bridge the gap between existing sources of grants and scholarships and the total cost of college. A college education is the single most important gift we can give these children. In today’s world a college education is the key to a successful future. Not only does it ensure job opportunities in our increasingly knowledge-based economy, but it also introduces students to ideas and methods of learning that will serve them in all aspects of their lives. By providing college scholarships and long-term educational counseling to these children, we honor the lives of those who have sacrificed themselves for our country, ensuring the success of those they loved.

There are a number of factors that create the need for CFPF’s services to our military families:

•Due to privacy laws it is very difficult for military aid organizations to find families who have lost a loved one.
•Aid organizations tend not be broadly focused but rather serve a particular military branch or unit
•Because no central directory of help exists, it is difficult for families to find aid.
•Finally, most surviving families have young children when their loved one is killed and move back home and away from the military support network.

Thus thousands of deserving children are slipping through the cracks. The experience has proven that even when families are able to find aid, there is a persistent gap between funding and college costs. The objective is to streamline this very complicated, burdensome and insufficient process for “our” families.

Children of Fallen Patriots was featured on Fox this this Memorial Day Weekend and has already received several donations! God Bless Fox & Friends for remembering the families of our fallen patriots. As we celebrate summer and enjoy our cookouts, let us not forget the lives given for our freedom. Please keep the families who grieve for their loved ones in your prayers. Thank you.

Thank you for your lovely comment. We here at Asiance completely agree. With so much attention being given to other countries all the time, we often forget about our very own challenges that need to be addressed.

In honor of this past Memorial Day Weekend, I would like to point out that Children of the Fallen Patriots Foundation is an excellent foundation. David Y. Kim serves as President, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. David is a partner at Apax Partners, a leading global private equity investment group operating across the United States, Europe and Asia. David is also a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the Harvard Business School. He served as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army where he participated in Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1989 with the 7th Infantry Division. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne and Ranger Schools. Both David and Cynthia founded this wonderful organization. David’s beautiful wife Cynthia Kim (The ideal Asiance Woman and perfect role-model for all young women) serves as Director of the Foundation and the couple has four adorable children.
