Gorgeous Bridal Hair
For stunning bridal hair Anthony-Joseph Hernandez from Ryan Darius Salon (http://www.ryandarius.com) styled these models with makeup by Vanessa Casas and photos by Jason Setiawan. Anthony started his career at the internationally known Toni and Guy. Within a year, he was working for Cutler SoHo. Some of his work includes working with Victoria Beckham, Naomi Watts, Rachael Ray, Armani, Escada, WWD, Elle and Nylon Magazine in addition to styling backstage for numerous shows during NYC fashion week. Here Anthony shares his techniques, product solutions and looks for hair of all lengths and textures.
For Mila (the darker-haired Asian girl) – She has thick coarse hair, so you have to tame and smooth it out. Prep with the Keratin Complex Shine Serum and the Keratin Complex Vita Volume boosting foam. Blow-dry smooth with a round brush. Set with a medium curling iron and pin each curl. Lightly spay with Keratin Complex Flex Flow Finishing Hairspray. Let hair completely cool off. Drop curls and freehand desired curl direction.
Swept over style – After the curls are finished push them over to desired side and lightly pin at the base of the neck to secure hair. Make sure hair is secure enough to not fall on the back when you are walking down the aisle. Pin back any hair that falls into the face if needed. Let shorter hair naturally fall on the opposite side and pin any, if needed. Spray with hairspray to hold.
Half Up – Create a mini french twist using hair pins just below the crown of the head. If more volume is desired, tease top of the head first. Take vertical sections and lightly pin the hair from the sides of the hair to the french twist. Do not pull the hair too tight. You want to make it loose and natural. Check the mirror for balance and spray with hairspray to secure.
Braided ponytail – Set hair with Large curling iron instead of medium. Drop curl and brush out set. For added volume, lightly tease only at the root. Pull into ponytail using a hair bungee. Tip for a perfect ponytail: follow the jawline up to the back of the head…this is where it should sit. Take a long piece of hair and wrap it around the bungee to conceal. Brush hair out section into three sections and hairspray each one. Braid hair tight and secure bottom with a small rubber band, the same color as your hair. If you want a loose braid take a tail comb and lightly break up ponytail using the metal part of comb. Leave on the back or wear the ponytail on the side.
For Kathleen (brunette girl, with full updo)– Blow dry hair with a medium round brush using Keratin Complex Vita Volume boosting foam. Set hair working with the side part using a medium curling iron. Spray each section lightly with Keratin Complex Flex Flow Finishing Hairspray before ironing. Pin each curl up and spray whole had again with hairspray. Let hair cool. Drop hair and brush out set with the direction of the part. Section out hair below the occipital bone. Tease complete section all the way to the scalp and pin to scalp. Take the hair from behind the ear and create a loose bun around the teased hair. Lightly brush hair in the front of the head back. Weave hair in into each other and lightly pin. Hairspray entire head to secure.
Dry Shampoo – If you get your hair done for the rehearsal dinner and don’t want to wash your hair the day of the wedding, or if you want to keep the curls from your wedding day use dry shampoo to keep the style fresh and oil free.
