Hong Kong singer-actor Edison Chen, who recently took part in a charity
Hong Kong singer-actor Edison Chen, who recently took part in a charity marathon in Hong Kong, had his results voided by the event’s organizers after he was found to have switched his number tag with a friend, reported Hong Kong media.
Not our Edison!
Chen was photographed starting the marathon with a tag numbered 5716 but returned with a tag numbered 5654 that bore someone else’s name, drawing allegations that he did not finish the marathon in under four hours (a good result for an amateur runner), but simply took the tag of someone who did.
Although Chen maintained that he swapped tags with his friend because he found it amusing, and insisted that he did not swap out his own electronic chip – which records the time taken for the wearer to complete the marathon – the organizers still decided to void his results.
They explained that even if Chen did complete the marathon in under four hours, as indicated by his electronic chip, he would still be guilty of breaking the rules because he swapped his number tag with someone else, and would have his results voided.
Oh we can see that!
“Because there have been people who have levelled complaints against Chen, that this (Chen’s tag swapping) is unfair to other runners, we will not recognize his (Chen’s) results and will not issue a certificate of completion to him.
“But he will not be blacklisted,” said a spokesperson for the marathon’s organizers.
