In a shocker from Pakistan, a soldier was publicly stoned to death in northwestern Kurram tribal region for reportedly having an affair with a teenage girl.
A group of villagers spotted Anwar Din, 27, a soldier in the army and a native of Mianwali district in Punjab province, giving gifts to Intizar Bibi, 18, a local Shia Muslim girl, in Turi graveyard of Parachinar town, headquarters of Kurram Agency along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to reports, the couple tried to elope but the locals captured Anwar, while the girl took refuge in a nearby madrassa.
A crowd of hundreds assembled to watch the 27-year old’s stoning. The fate of the girl remains unclear but there were rumors in the area that she may also have been executed, a report published in TOI said.
