Community, work and success are important components of life for Asian-Americans and that is one reason why so many Asians continue to immigrate to the United States. But, a recent report released by New York-based Asia Society from its 2012 Asian Pacific American Corporate Survey states that while Asian Pacific-Americans are among the most influential and important sectors of the U.S. society, they are often overlooked by marketers, major corporations and business leaders.

The report was released at the Asia Society’s Fourth Annual Diversity Leadership Forum, hosted by Time Warner. At the event, Saul Gitlin, executive vice president of strategic marketing services/new business at Kang & Lee Advertising, told the audience that even with an annual “purchasing power of $509 billion, Asian-Americans don’t always get considered by marketers.” Jonathan Saw, senior Asian Pacific-American research advisor to Asia Society and principal and owner of Jonathan Saw and Associates LLC, said the report shows there is still work to be done.
