How to make an easy chanel style jacket
Buy an old denim jacket that fits like a glove. Replace all buttons and/or cover with trim. Then cut off the collar or leave the collar and outline in trim. Choose buttons similar to the ones below and sew on a chain themed trim, a faux fur trim or a boucle trim in the opposite color as the jacket. For example, white denim jacket=black/gold or pink/gold chain trim, light blue=navy blue/gold chain trim. I sewed on a great quality velcro to a few jackets so that I could alternate the looks by trim. I made my fashionista goddaughter a few matching jackets so that we can match when we are out on the town. If you cannot sew, you may use a special glue to add the trim to the collar, the button line in front and on the cuffs. You can buy the materials in the Fashion District of Manhattan or at stores like Michaels and Jo-Ann Fabric. These jackets look great with leggings, pants or with denims.
The late Coco Chanel is my all-time favorite designer and a wonderful role-model for independent women of all ages.
Next week I will tell you how to make your own Chanel inspired pearls and jewelry.
