The Board of Directors of the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Inc. (BCNC)
The Board of Directors of the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Inc. (BCNC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Giles Li (???) as BCNC’s new Executive Director, beginning November 3, 2013. “After an extensive nationwide search, we believe that Giles is the dynamic leader who will advance BCNC to its next stage of growth.
Giles will carry BCNC’s presence and vision forward with the same level of dedication as our former Executive Director Elaine Ng, who resigned due to family reasons,” said Selina Chow, BCNC’s Board President.
Giles joined BCNC in 2006 as program manager. By 2011, he was
promoted to Director of Programs with management responsibilities for all programs — child care, adult education, family services, youth services and arts enrichment.
Having grown up locally in an immigrant family, Giles has a life-long connection and commitment to the community in and beyond Chinatown. He is a recognized thought leader in Asian American communities nationwide.
With more than a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, Giles has a proven track record of direct service, advocacy work, and management experience. Giles earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from UMass Amherst and a Masters degree in Public Affairs from UMass Boston. He
is an alumnus of the Institute for Nonprofit Management and Leadership at Boston University’s (BU) School of Management. He has also served as adjunct faculty in the Asian American Studies program at UMass-Boston, and is currently a mentor for the Community Fellows Program at BU.
“I look forward to ensuring that BCNC remains a strong support for this community and beyond. The families we serve are my own role models; I admire them for facing life’s hardest challenges with grace and courage,” said Giles Li.
