ASPIRE (Asian Sisters Participating in Reaching Excellence), Inc.TM, a Boston-based non-profit organization,
ASPIRE (Asian Sisters Participating in Reaching Excellence), Inc.TM, a Boston-based non-profit organization, will host its 6th Annual Asian American Women In Leadership (AAWIL) Conference at Boston University on Saturday, October 16, 2010. The conference celebrates and promotes leadership among Asian American girls and women. With the theme of “Discovering the Leader Within”, the 2010 AAWIL Conference aims to encourage attendees to explore, learn, and flourish. It will challenge and support Asian American women to take a leap. Speakers will share their experiences on how they were able to discover themselves through new inspirations and experiences which allowed for change in their lives.
From previous year’s testimonials, attendees and speakers have found this conference to be inspiring and informative. “Hearing the success stories of the keynote speakers at the AAWIL Conference has encouraged me to reach higher. I am determined to come back in the future and share my tales with young college and high school students. I am very fortunate to have come across an organization like this. The innumerable skills I obtained through the Youth Leadership Program (YLP) will help me along my road to success.” said Annie Wu, a YLP Scholar alumna.

Linda Chin is the morning keynote speaker at this year’s conference. She is the President for the Asian
Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK), which primarily serves Asian families and individuals in Massachusetts and New England who suffer from or are at risk of suffering from domestic violence. Ms. Chin has devoted her career to improving access to healthcare services to vulnerable populations and
building stronger families and communities and gained national recognition in the healthcare management and consulting industry. Prior to joining ATASK, Ms. Chin served as Senior Vice President or Planning, Marketing, and Public Relations at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA). She earned her
Master of Science in Health Policy and Management at Harvard School of Public Health and Bachelors’ egree from Yale University.
Jeannie Suk will be the afternoon keynote speaker. She is Assistant Professor of Law at Harvard Law chool and the first Asian American woman to hold a tenure-track post there. Before joining the faculty in 2006, she served as a law clerk to Justice David Souter on the United States Supreme Court, and to udge Harry Edwards on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Ms. Suk studied at Yale
University (B.A. 1995), attended Oxford University (D.Phil 1999) as a Marshall Scholar, and graduated rom Harvard Law School (J.D. 2002) where she was Chair of the Harvard Law Review’s Articles office. Her writing has appeared in the Yale Law Journal, Stanford Law Review, Wall Street Journal, Slate, and elsewhere. Her most recent book, At Home in the Law: How the Domestic Violence Revolution is Transforming Privacy, was awarded the Herbert Jacob Prize by the Law and Society Association.
The objective of the AAWIL conference is to highlight the importance of leadership for Asian American girls and women.

• Build upon last year’s theme of “Fearless Leadership: Taking Charge with Confidence”
• Gather cross-generational Asian American women from across the continental US with diverse personal and professional backgrounds to share their experiences of how exploring and learning allowed them to flourish
• Discuss the various aspects of continuous leadership development to make lasting, positive
changes in our communities
• Celebrate and explore ways Asian American females “Discover the Leader Within”
