With a comfortable victory over two formidable challengers, Tackey Chan of Quincy, MA became the first Asian-American ever elected to the state House of Representatives.

Chan, a Quincy native and son of two Hong Kong immigrants, told a diverse crowd of supporters at a Chinese restaurant in Quincy Center that he had to convince voters he had more in common with them than differences.

He referred to himself as “the kid that people forgot was from Quincy.”
