Tiger Woods niece, Cheyenne Woods, finished 5-under 208 at the Atlantic Coast
Tiger Woods niece, Cheyenne Woods, finished 5-under 208 at the Atlantic Coast Conference championship tournament…the biggest win of Cheyenne Woods’ amateur golf career.
Woods, a junior at Wake Forest University, began the final round tied for the lead with North Carolina’s Allie White. But Woods pulled away from White and the field over the last 18, posting the only sub-70 round of the day.
The ACC championship is Woods’ first victory in the 2010-11 NCAA golf season, although she did have a third-place at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in February. It’s her third victory in three seasons at Wake Forest; she previously won the Bryan National Collegiate in the 2009-2010 season; and teamed with Michelle Shin to win the Women’s Collegiate Team Championship in 2010.
Going into the ACC tournament, Cheyenne Woods was ranked No. 38 in the Golfweek/Sagarin women’s college golf rankings; and was No. 76 in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking.
