Andrew Lau Film acquired B4 showing in Venice and Toronto
“Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen,” starring Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen has been acquired by Well Go USA.
The film company has bought the North American rights to the Andrew Lau (Infernal Affairs) movie even before its world premiere as one of the opening night films at he 67th Venice International Film Festival in September. The film was also selected as the Special Presentation selection at the Toronto International Film Festival.
“Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen is another key acquisition for us as we continue to build our library of important Asian films for the US market,” said Well Go President, Doris Pfardrescher, in a statement. “The legend of Chen Zen has a long history in Hong Kong cinema and with Donnie Yen becoming as big a star in America as he is in Asia, we anticipate a lot of fan interest in Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen.”
The film was directed and co-produced by Andrew Lau and he also served as cinematographer alongside his long-time partner, Ng Man-Ching. Donnie Yen is not only the star of the film, but also the flight choreographer.
