Steve Aoki for Peta
This is one of the reasons why we love Steve!
Now Aoki is taking time away from his jet-set lifestyle to let everyone know that there’s nothing fashionable about wearing fur. Check out Steve Aoki’s peta2 ad and enter to win!
There is nothing fashionable about the cruelty associated with fur industry. Denied everything that is natural and important to them, animals on fur farms spend every day in agony before meeting a gruesome death. Many top designers and trendsetting stores—including Stella McCartney, Betsey Johnson, Ralph Lauren, Forever 21, and H&M—have dropped fur from their collections.
When asked why he chose to speak out against the fur industry, Aoki said: “I’ve been a supporter of PETA ever since I got turned on to animal rights when I was 14. After reading Ingrid Newkirk’s book in high school, PETA became more and more an influence throughout my adolescence. Now over 15 years later, I am still a supporter and proud to be a spokesperson for peta2.”
Steve Aoki would rather get arrested naked than wear fur.

There are so many gorgeous faux fur garments that actually look better than the real thing. Also, actual fur is heavy so who really wants to wear an animal on her back? I wear beautiful faux fur coats and jackets that are warmer and lighter than fur.
With this in mind, please be courteous to the people who do wear fur. It gives me a bit of a fright to think that people who are against fur might confront older women like my mother and aunts who wear it. They are elderly and get very cold in the bitter winter weather. Please be thoughtful enough to let them be. It is great to be a proponent of animal rights and against the cruel treatment of them but just bear in mind that people are entitled to their own views. The elderly generation grew up at a time when real fur was in high fashion and little was known about the cruel treatment of animals.
Steve, thank you for your strong support of PETA, I love wildlife and agree that animals should not be subjected to cruel and inhumane behavior. Hopefully, as we move forward the fur industry will grow less and less popular.
