Anwar claims sex video scandal was motivated by revenge
Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim fights to contain the fallout from a sex video scandal, saying that the people who released it are trying to seek revenge. Mr Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Wan Azizah hit back at the three men, who released the video purportedly showing Anwar having sex with a foreign woman.
“I had no desire to look at it. It is actually, for a Muslim, it is “haram” (forbidden). It is actually “berdosa” (sinful) if you want to look at, more so to circulate that sort of thing. So I did not ask because it is a shame, it is a hoax, it is politically motivated,” said Ms Wan Azizah, president of PKR.
Mr Anwar claims that former Chief Minister of Malacca, Mr Rahim Tamby Chik, released the video to take revenge on him. Mr Anwar had asked Mr Rahim to step down in 1996, after he was accused of having sex with an under-aged girl. “I have no regret nor remorse in asking him to step down, although it’s beyond my power to ask anyone minister of chief minister to quit, but now he claims to have the moral yardstick, when in fact he committed a crime in distributing pornographic video, just to get even with me,” said Mr Anwar. Wednesday, former Malacca Chief Minister Rahim Tamby Chik and businessman Shazryl Eskay vouched for the authenticity of the video.
I guess the real evidence is contained on the video. The video tells all doesn’t it? Whether the men were vengeful or not is irrelevant in this case. He either did it or he didn’t and the video should reveal that as well as other evidence such as receipts, phone bills and the rest of it. Stop deviating from the facts.
The thing that these politicians don’t realize is people have a tendency to forgive and admire those who bravely face the facts and admit to wrong doing rather than cowardly hide and deny everything. Acting in a cowardly manner is an extremely weak and inferior character trait! If they are proven to be wrong, it only makes them look that much worse!
