Cosplayer Yuki Godbless
Yuki Godbless was born to a creative family of artists in Thailand.
When she was 5 years old, she became a big fan of Sailor Moon. Her mother brought her to a tailor to have a sailor moon custom made for her. At the time she did not see it as cosplay. The only thing she knew was that she wanted to be Sailor Moon. Ten years later she was inspired by J-Rock band Glay’s fans that would cosplay as the musician they liked most.
Cosplay is short for “costume play” and is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea.
Yuki also found inspiration in Japanese animation and cosplayer, JiakiDarkness, who is now her cosplay partner. One of her earliest cosplays was Violet Yukata. Other characters she enjoyed cosplaying have been Uriel from Bastard! [Manga] and Tsubaki from Trinity Universe.
What sets Yuki apart from most cosplayers is the attention to detail and the elaborateness of her costumes. Yuki falls in love with the characters she plays. It can take her anywhere from 3 to 6 months to create her costumes. She makes each one by hand.
Yuki has won many contests for her costumes and cosplay performances including:
- Thailand’s top 4 young artists on 2006 and numerous art prizes
- Oishi cosplay 2009 (Wonder cosplay prize)
- World cosplay summit [Thailand primary] 2nd grand prize 2009 and 2010
- Top female cosplay Thailand game show 2010
- Two Show case costumes and 1 photoshoot album showcase on Cosplay.com
- Ambassador cosplayer from South East Asia for Animax of Asia as chosen by Hong Kong tourism board by vote.
