Crazy About BB Cream!
So hopefully by now everyone is humming along to ‘Gangnam Style‘ by PSY!
But what exactly is Gangnam style? And how can you, dear reader, get some?
According to this interview with The Wall Street Journal online, PSY put this little song together to satirize what is arguably Seoul’s ritziest, most fashionable neighborhood. Gangnam literally means ‘south of the river,’ in this case the Han river (‘Hangang’), and is home to chic boutiques, luxury department stores, and throngs of women who always look good!
(If you want to read more about it, check out my book ‘Seoul Sweet Seoul.’)
Of course, like women anywhere else, there is a secret to looking good, although the cat’s kind of out of the bag.
BB Cream has been gaining quite a following in the makeup blogging community for some time. Still it’s not that mainstream, and I scratch my head, a bit puzzled, how a cream invented in Germany in the 1950s came into full realization in Korea circa 2005, when various South Korean brands brought the concept to the Asian market.
All the major Western cosmetic brands now do carry some BB cream products: Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, and Christian Dior to name a few, but being a Korean gal myself I prefer to reach out to the products of the motherland for the real deal.
Thanks to WishTrend.com, I’ve had the opportunity to try the Premium BB Blemish Balm from Seo Su Jin Palette.
It’s a slightly tinted cream — a natural beige, but once you rub it into your skin it blends in with the contours of your complexion, conceals your blemishes, and brightens your skin tone. In other words, it’s awesome!
So I’m getting a flawless Seoul fashionista complexion while foregoing the hassle of using a base followed by a foundation. My makeup routing just got simpler.
That’s the power of BB cream, And I’m loving it!
