Why have we forgotten them?

It’s been over a month and we have heard nothing about Laura Ling and Euna Lee, the journalists captured on the North Korean border. Al Gore, owner of Current TV has remained mum. What is that all about? I guess he’s waiting to see what Hillary is going to do. Good luck with that!

Instead of worrying about whether or not we should waterboard terrorists and/or close Guantamo Bay, shouldn’t we worry about getting our journalists back? North Korea has stated Ling and Lee will be tried for entering the country illegally and "hostile" activities, although Reporters Without Borders says the women may have been grabbed on the Chinese side of the border.

After the recent conviction of Roxana Saberi, who was merely buying wine, yet convicted of espionage and sentenced to 8 years in a torture prison, the US seems to be sending the wrong message. Is this what these countries are resorting to as bargaining chips? Journalists? Something needs to be done ASAP! Enough with the dumb petitions..Do something!

  • I posted why Lisa Ling is silent about this? She is usually assertive in her reporting yet when it comes to her blood and family sister, she is silent on this. I signed that online petition. Get Presiden Obama on this Jaime. He and Hillary have to press harder for their release. Who else can help ? – Jesse Jackson Bill Richardson ??? What are your ideas?

  • Hillary and Obama aren’t going to do sh*t. When are you going to realize that? What do the democrats have to say now? When communist countries are taking journalists off the streets as barter? They are laughing at you and throwing it right back in your face! You can not negotiate or become friendly with these people..They are garbage! They need to fear the United States, otherwise we will be the laughing stock of the world forever, like we are now!

  • I asked Jaime because she voiced her opinion? I bet if it were attractive white women journalists and Bush is still in office there would be more attention. What about Laura Ling and Euna Lee? Because they are Asian and Korean and they can blend in with the North Koreans It is over a month already. Even I am disappointed with my man Obama and his lack of voice on this. He even commented on Iranian/Japanese-American being held in Iran. Asians in America have to stop being silent and voiceless so I urge Jaime and the Ling and Lee family to start something and get Obama’s attention on this matter and press for their unconditional release.

  • Is that what you are bringing in now race? We have a black president. It does not make a different what race. Obama has the highest amount of Asian American members in his administration. It lies within the Clinton realm. I hope they can do something. The families and this magazine included, although I believe the outcome is nilch. Lord knows what these girls are going through!

  • Okay you got me. I said it out of anger. Come to think about it there were 3 white American guys imprisoned in Columbia for a long time by some rebels and released/rescued recently. Sun you still made a negative comment earlier about Lisa Ling did not care for her sister Laura venturing into dangerous territory in another post. Regardless I hope they will not punish them long and release them. Still Obama had not raise a word of protest to the North Koreans. I still support Obama/Clinton 100%. Yeah I think Laura and Euna and pretty and support the Asian sisters.
