Utada Hikaru has donated 80 million Yen (approx $1 Million US) to the disaster-stricken area of Japan after the Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake.

She reported on her blog under the title “I donated through Japan Red Cross”.

“I have been thinking what I can do for Iwate, my mother’s home town, and Miyagi, where my grandmother is buried.” said Utada, “Food, living goods, energy, resource, and everything needed in your life should be ‘appreciated’ instead as ‘a matter of course’ anymore, should be used ‘when necessary’ instead of ‘because it is here’. Thinking about not to waste and we will be able to reduce the waste.”

On the twitter, she is also asking for the support, “Even there is no disaster report on the TV from now, we shall not forget the feeling of mutual help and love and we will get over the difficulties together.” said Utada.
