I’m not a Geisha
Feminine, submissive and artistic– these are just the few attributes the fair-skinned 27-year-old Japanese from Kyoto proudly lists, even though most other modern-day lasses would rather deny possessing.
With a bow and a slight smile on her cherry red lips, she introduces herself as Kosen, the professional name she is known as at the teahouse in ancient Japanese capital. Kosen is a Geisha.
“They are not Geishas, they are Geikos,” exclaims Okasan Ikuko Takeda as she quickly and politely corrects the general ignorance towards the small, rare class of women.
This is the trailer from “Memoirs of a Geisha”
The owner of a Kyoto teahouse where Geikos entertain, explains that the term “Geisha”, used in the past, is now considered an insult. The much-preferred reference, Geiko, means artisans as these hand-picked girls would spend most of their time singing and displaying their talent with traditional musical instruments to entertain guests, aside from chatting with them.

I love the restaurant Geisha in NYC! I love love love their chicken salad and saketinis! I always meet the most interesting people in that place and their long-time hostess from Barbados is so beautiful and sweet!
The book “Memoirs of a Geisha” pointed out all of these facts and much more. The movie, although extremely entertaining and of very high quality, cannot possibly encompass all of the details contained in the book.
Visiting Singapore courtesy of Japanese skincare line Biore, the petite Geiko was a contrast to the tall and slender Japanese model who was transformed in 30 minutes with the distinctive white make-up.
Even as Biore’s new range of cleanser worked to impress by quickly stripping the make-up from the modern-day beauty, it was hard to erase the image of the fragile-looking Japanese beauty who bears great inner-strength.
Biore cleanser is amazing! I swear by it as I use it everyday! It gives your skin a tingling cool sensation and prevents breakouts. Since using the cleanser, my skin clarity has improved 70%! I am not an easy person to impress. The Japanese skin care line Biore is quality and it is available in most drugstores.
